During her studies she was selected to partake in UCL and Peking University's Summer School in Experimental Design in Psychology. In her final year of University, she completed two research projects. The first, on the cellular signalling pathway, mTOR, as a therapeutic target for Alzheimer's Disease with epileptiform activity. Rachel worked as a Brain Injury Support Worker alongside her studies, supporting individuals who suffered from various neurological conditions, or who had experienced a traumatic brain injury. Following her degree, she worked in neurorehabilitation at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. She provided therapy support to chronic stroke patients within Queen Square's Upper Limb Neurorehabilitation programme.

Rachel joined SHORE-C in April 2024, and has been assisting the team with a variety of projects. Her main focus has been developing a new study for people living with the Haematological Cancer, Multiple Myeloma. The study will launch in January 2025.

  • PUMMaCE

This online survey aimed to gather information from people living with multiple myeloma about their understanding of the condition and the words and phrases used to describe their diagnosis, treatment and support. The survey explored what doctors and nurses said or did that helped or hindered understanding, and what family or friends have said or done that was helpful or not so helpful.

The survey has now closed and the data are being analysed. A report summarising the finding will be available here soon.
