Exact Sciences has commissioned SHORE-C to conduct six residential 8-hour TARGET training courses for HCPs who discuss Gene Expression Profiling (GEP) Tests in breast cancer. BCRF funded the production and evaluation of the original TARGET materials.
The workshops start with a discussion about the primary communication difficulties encountered by the group when talking with patients about GEP test results. This is followed by an updated didactic presentation about risk of recurrence and survival with group exercises. The group, depending on its size, would split into smaller units with their own facilitator (max 10 participants per group) to view the filmed scenarios and engage in discussions about the likely areas of confusion, and management options.
The final filmed scenario is an interview between Professor Dame Lesley Fallowfield and Professor Mitch Dowsett who outlines the current landscape of genomic testing within the breast cancer setting.
Participants in the workshops will be asked to complete pre and post workshop questionnaires to assess the impact of the workshops on participants' knowledge and confidence discussing GEP tests.
