The Emotional Cancer Journey by Michele Angelo Petrone
Artist Michele Angelo Petrone (1963-2007) was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Disease aged 30.
He expressed his experiences when hearing the diagnosis and during cancer treatment through a series of moving paintings and prose – called the Emotional Cancer Journey. These paintings were exhibited across the UK and published as a book.
A DVD was made in 2011, as a medium to facilitate discussion among health care professionals and carers about the complex emotions evoked when working with patients facing life-threatening disease. There is a short introduction by Lesley Fallowfield followed by the paintings with William Gaminara as the voice of Michele Petrone.
